In the media.

I can't remember when this happend, but several years ago when I first set up Paranormal Hull Research Group I was contacted out of the blue by our local newspaper, The Hull Daily Mail.  The group was set up on the MSN Group pages that no longer exist and like many of these type of things, it was a very slow start and I can only imagine that the Mail found me through the group site. I received an email from them and initially I thought it was some sort of joke, but curiosity got the better of me and I telephoned them from a phone box.  As it turns out it was a genuine email so I arranged for the reporter to telephone me back at home.  He explained to me that they were running a promotion in the paper for local clubs, groups and societies and wondered if I would like to be interveiwed.  Media being the way it can be at times I said to him that I would like to be interveiwed but would not appreciate being made a fool of as it is (at the time) a slightly strange subject. He assured me they would not make a fool of me and I spent the next 20 minutes being interveiwed over the telephone. It was actually quite a nice experience and he also arranged for a photographer to visit me to get a photograph to go with that article. The photographer visited, a very nice young girl and the result of which can been see to the right.

I must admit, the article in the news paper really helped PHRG, within a day of the article going out we had a huge amount of people join the group. A lot of them, however, were content just to sit and chat about the paranormal and not participate in investigations - but that's ok, each to their own!

Another side effect of the article in the paper was that I was then invited to go and talk on local radio, BBC Radio Humberside, again, never been made to look a fool but simply a good chat with even more members joining the group site!

O.K, so I never quite found fame like the shows you see on TV today but that was never my intention - this was all a hobby to me, something to share with other people and that is exactly what I did. Job done!

I feel I must mention though, while I got the main part of the story, you will see in the bottom right a friend of mine who was one of the first members of PHRG. She helped me a lot to promote the group and arrange hunts, still speak with her from time to time, cheers Lynn.

Thank you for visiting, please come again.
